Good for piecing quilts
2 of 3 found this helpful I think that this iron will be much better to use while ironing half-square triangles for my quilts. Steam irons tend to mangle the points of triangles as the get caught in the holes that are in the soleplate.
That is why I had desired a dry iron. I thought that they weren't made anymore, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this one at a very good price. As someone else had commented, the soleplate is not as smooth as most modern steam irons.........for some reason, they don't seem to have polished this one as finely, or maybe it is the material it is made of. But, the heavy weight of it, quick-heating, and lack of holes should all add up tomake this a very usable piecing iron.

Damages
I got what I paid for. Priced at $5, I offered $3....accepted.
When received, the snips kept catching on the screw that holds one of the blades. I had an old dull pair that I had loved too much to throw away. Swapped out the screws from each, and now have sharp snips again.
It worked out, but they should have been labeled as ‘damaged’. I wouldn’t trust this dealer .
