A dynamic romantic historical subject: modeling railroads
0 of 1 found this helpful Zane is not a modest fellow. The book indeed boils down to a memoir. Memoirs boil down to a vindication, published for the rest of us to applaud.
The subject of Zane's enthusiasm is the book's saving grace. Railroads wrested the nation, the world from subsistence and introduced mankind to the industrial age. Modeling a representation of this in miniature goes from craftsmanship into artistry.
Zane has been blessed with a remarkably successful life and he would have been wiser to spend time crediting his father for this. One is reminded of another model railroad icon, Glasure. He too inherited his inspiration from his father.
But overall, a book on a Model Railroad should emphasize the railroad itself not the builder. No one will replace the one true master, Frank Ellison.

Handy hot plate.
Very nice-- compact but powerful, easy to keep clean. Use it for coffee perc., don't have to run to the kitchen. After brewing, warm setting keeps second cup hot 'nough. Real nice item.
