Humidifier Filter - 4 Pack-Replacement for Honeywell HAC504 HAC504AW- (NB002P)
Dec 13, 2022
Useless, because it loses its shape when wet
These have a fatal flaw: they collapse when wet. HAC504 filters are supposed to stand upright in a circular slot, but these fall down like old socks. They seem to be made of some kind of tissue paper with no structural component. The result is that the vaporizer fan moves air over the top of the filter instead of through it, making it useless.

Disposable
Never buy used/as-is. Once the battery goes bad, the Yepp has to go in the trash. The battery is not replaceable.
Neewer Professional Panoramic Gimbal Camera Tripod 360° Panoramic Ball Head

best buy for what it is; several design flaws that are not fatal
This was by far the least expensive product I found that supports full spherical panorama shooting, keeping the lens entry pupil fixed in space while the camera rotates around it. It's not for wildlife shooting with a long lens. You need a different type of gimbal for that, something designed for speed and weight balance. Things to watch out for: 1. The rotating base came with no lubrication whatsoever, and was jerky and grinding in motion until I took it apart and applied some gun grease between the metal clutch plates. It now works more smoothly, but I don't know yet whether it will last like that or leak out (which would not only require repeated application of grease but probably make a mess). 2. The detents for indexing are misaligned so there is never a stop where the arrow points to zero. That would have been an easy thing to calibrate, but they apparently didn't think of it. 3. The indexing marks for vertical angle are even more useless, being engraved on the wrong surface relative to the arrow that points to them. 4. The supported choices for indexing increment, 15 and 18 degrees, are not great in practice. Most people shoot either conventional panoramas with a wide lens, in which case they'll want increments of between 20 and 45 degrees, or Brenizer-type compositions with a long lens covering a small area, which does best in increments between 5 and 10 degrees. This product compromises by providing increments I can't use in either situation. So I generally leave the colored screw loose and either consult the degree index indicator with no indents, or shoot in continuous mode while just slowly turning the rig on the base, which works surprisingly well if you don't mind having to dispose of some redundant intermediate images.
