5 stars for the price. Good for practice, great for beginners.
3 of 3 found this helpful 5 stars for the price. Obviously it is not a $2000 guitar but the pickups are decent--capable through a clean basic amp, and more than capable through a nice combo amp. The switch and knobs have a solid feel and function correctly. The neck feels surprisingly good -- the neck is worth the price, alone, due to very good fretwork, well dressed with no sharp edges, and nice profile and smooth back. It's a fast neck. Where it is cheap is the bridge (rattled until I adjusted it) and the tuners (not locking, and don't hold a tune more than a day or two). Setup was poor out of the box but that also was expected, and easy to fix with the provided small and large Allen wrenches. This is a very good price for a very good practice guitar or beginner's guitar.

Push-pull coil splitting, light weight, good pickups and great comfort
This is as close to "do it all" as an electric guitar gets. The bridge and tremolo are A+, including the pop-in arm; miles better than the trem on a comparably priced Strat. The tuners are also better than any Fender in this price range, and ridiculously better than Gibson's. Great comfort level, great pickups, and the push-pull pot allows you to split the coils so that you can go from Les Paul humbucker style to Strat style. Light at 7lbs even but not neck heavy; neck does not dive. The one thing that will be a negative to some is the "wide thin" profile neck, which people with smaller hands will find to be challenging for playing thumb-over positions. I have XXL hands and can play thumb-over with no problem on this neck but I do notice that it is not as easy as with a standard Strat with a 9.5 inch radius, so I am betting that some playing styles won't be suited to this neck. Other playing styles will prefer this neck, with its flatter radius. It is closer to a metal neck than to a classic rock neck, but it's wider than a typical metal neck; sort of a cross between a Gibson and an Ibanez. Everything is a choice; do your research about what's best for you.

Great beginner or intermediate guitar
Vastly better build quality and a bit better sound than the Squiers and Epiphones in the same price range.
