The Giddens Sisters I Know I've Been Changed Audio CD
    Apr 21, 2022
    A great musical delight!
This is one of my all-time favorite CDs. It's Rhiannon Giddens singing and playing banjo but so much more. It includes her sister, Lalenja, mostly doing spoken word pieces but also singing harmony. Each track is a gem and, in its entirety the album is a magnificent treasure. Some traditional songs, some original, especially the poetry. The album cover might lead you to think it's a children's album; it's not, not with songs like "I Wish I Was a Single Girl Again" and "Another Man Done Gone" and poems like "When Billie Sings". It's just pure delight. It was released by Music Maker Foundation but is no longer available from them.

    So close, so far away
The movie was disappointing. It had all the elements to make a really powerful film but barely skimmed the surface of any of the issues. There was zero character development, only rare flashes of personality -- rarely explored. It actually reminded me of my time at Cal, with people passing through the periphery of your vision, never taking hold. To that end, it's a fairly accurate picture of Berkeley in 1969. But it could have been so much more. Other pictures cover the same time period better: see Strawberry Statement or the Paper Chase or, yes, More American Graffiti.
    Elephant Parts Michael Nesmith Dvd

How many copies does one person need?
Elephant Parts is a great movie. I had it as a VHS tape when it first came out and later upgraded to Laser Disk. I realized a couple months ago that I no longer had a version that I could play on any of my current systems. I needed another upgrade. Fortunately I found a copy on E Bay that was fairly reasonably priced.
