The Photographer's Playbook : 307 Assignments and Ideas by Gregory Halpern...
    Mar 21, 2024
    A unique book for photographers
First and foremost, this is NOT a typical book for photographers. All the other books I have on photography are linear. This book is not. It can be read in any order you choose. Each chapter stands on its own. It is a mix of photographic philosophy and photographic challenges. The book is not organized by subject. The table of contents is alphabetical by photographer. If you want a specific subject, go to the index. This is a book to lift you out of a slump or just challenge yourself and your creativity. I got this book to help me out of a slump. I skimmed through it picking what I wanted start with. I will take the time to give it a more through reading. The first assignment/challenge/whatever you want to call them I completed was shoot a sheet of white bond paper on white background using different lighting and angles. I was amazed at the results. The second assignment I started was to write for 25 minutes by just letting the words flow. I was surprised by what I learned about myself. One of the best things about this book, is you do as little or as much as you want. My first book on photography I bought back in the 1970's. I have bought dozens of books since then. While it may not be the only book a photographer needs, it should certainly be in every photographer’s library.
