Pity They Don't Make Them Any More
Very versatile addition to a large Meccano set. My late father never got round to buying one of these, and now I've inherited his humungous Meccano set, I've put that wrong to rights. Motor has a very useful built-in gearbox to help it suit a wide variety of drives that may be needed. Highest is the 1:3 reduction ratio whilst lowest is the 1:60 with 4 more in between. The motor end also has a reversing switch with is useful if running it off batteries. Anything from 3v to 12v DC will make it come to life. If using a model train controller, you don'r really need the reverser, so it can be left set one way or the other. Made in Germany for Meccano, Wiring is via two minuscule banana jack so no soldering required should the wires become frayed and need replacing. It has a wide base with two rows of 3 standard-fit Meccano holes. The gears are selected by turning a locking ring to the required ratio and sliding the gear into mesh. The ring is then used to secure that ratio. It feels like a very fat version of one of those multi-refill ball pens. You couldn't therefore use it like a car gearbox - it's more intended for matching torque and speed to whatever you're motorising.
Just a shame that you have to buy second hand these days.

Does What I Wanted
I wanted this to pass onto my daughter as she now has my older 3D TV with my half dozen 3D BluRays, so all good. However, as it's now quite an old model, don't expect any of the impressive array of Smart apps to actually work. It also appears that you can't even renew them as the Samsung App Store no longer showed them. The only one that still worked was NOW TV and then only till the end of September 2022!

Does What is Says on The Can.......
.... But "tempered glass"? I doubt it. Yes, it's easy to fit and to get rid of bubbles. Yes it's hard and scratch resistant. I just think that calling it glass is maybe economical with the true.
