You won't regret buying this guitar, no matter who you are.
2 of 2 found this helpful I am a long time guitarist, who was "ready" to drop coin in the low 4 figures range for a new Martin 6 string (I have a Martin 12 string, that is amazing).
I played close to 15 different Martins over the last month. I played the Yamaha FGX800C "on a lark", and I was astonished at it's playability, action, and overall sound. It is "loud", which I like. It is also a classy looking, well finished instrument. While the Martins were, for the most part, what we all like about them. It was very appealing to spend a fraction of a Martin's cost on this Yamaha. If you are looking for a quality solid top, 6 string acoustic, just buy the Yamaha FGX800C - you won't regret it.

Get the Ibanez 12 string if you are serious about learning to play a 12.
2 of 2 found this helpful I would recommend the Ibanez PF1512-NT only if you are serious about playing a 12 string guitar. They are more difficult to play, basically because there are six more strings with the same size neck as a six string. This Ibanez is slightly more difficult to play than other 12 strings I have used, but it is an absolutely great deal, the tone, particularly treble is excellent, and it is very well made.
I will have the action lowered slightly, and have premium strings placed and it will improve even more. I would give it 5 stars but I would reserve that for the Martin or Mitchell 12.
Remember the great spiritual adage - "Twice the price does not equal double the fun".
If you are serious about a 12 and do not want to spend a load, then definitely get the Ibanez PF1512-NT.

Great sound, great bargain.
For the money this guitar has a great sound. Mitchell states it has solid spruce top, so this is an asset for this money. Big sound, smooth, easier to play than many other 12 strings. Great bargain if you cannot get a Taylor, Martin, or Gibson. And it is quite a pretty guitar as well, which, of course, counts for a lot.
