Good Resource
Great resource and reference guide. I own several NAS field guides and refer to them frequently as a wildlife/nature shooter.

Oldie but Goodie
1 of 1 found this helpful If you have a Nikon with a built-in focus motor and you can live without VR, find yourself a "mint copy" of one of these from a reputable dealer while there are still some good ones left out there. This D version lens has *surprisingly fast* AF. They don't make them like this any more. Great quality, great glass and built to Last. This D lens is compatible with all Nikons going back to 1977. The AF speed is close to being comparable to the Nikon 80-200 2.8 (going for over $1,000 now) Though heavy because it's metal, this lens is quite a bit smaller. Hardly any barrel distortion. I'm very pleased with the images I get with this lens. If you can find a good copy up to $200... GO FOR IT. (I won't part with mine)

Good Performer
6 of 6 found this helpful Excellent addition to my arsenal of Nikon/Nikkor lenses. Nice macro lens and also a good lens for portraiture and scenic shots. For some work, I like primes better for the tones and colors. Takes some getting used to (DOF). This lens does the job very nicely in lower ISO settings. Definitely a keeper.
