The Idle Rich motion picture
The Idle Rich, an early MGM Talking Picture starring Bessie Love was directed by William deMille, Cecil B DeMille's brother. At this time the studios were filming stage plays due to the new sound technology's limitations. Many of these picturizations of plays were not very successful, but people were fascinated with hearing dialogue from the screen. The Idle Rich is a satire on rich people and the moral of the story is that it is ok to be rich, but it is what you DO with the money that counts, particularly helping others with it.
