Failed quickly

2 of these units from the Ebay seller have failed now - no light just glow very dim. When they worked the light was fine but they are supposed to last 1000's of hours - not so! Maybe cheap Chinese manufactured

Very strong but be careful!

Very strong magnets with many uses. Just one caution - they can break easily so dont allow them to snap down too hard

Add a 2nd drive to your laptop!

Great way to add a 2nd drive to your laptop. You can use an SSD as a boot drive to make the laptop much faster and use this adapter in place of the dvd drive to hold a 2.5" hard drive to store data. Buy an external dvd rewriter if you still need that for £10-12. Its easy to use and fit this adapter in about 10 minutes BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT THICKNESS TO SUIT YOUR DVD BAY. For example mine is 12.7mm. The wrong size will not connect. Newer laptops have thinner drives. You have to buy a 2.5" hdd to fit in the adapter. I chose 1tb. Remove the dvd drive (1 screw), slot the new drive into the adapter and put the 4 supplied screws in to hold it, remove the laptop retaining bracket from the dvd drive and attach to the adapter (2 screws), slide the adapter into the now empty dvd bay and secure with the one screw. Boot the laptop and it will recognise the new drive automatically. Its a great item. I recommend it highly
