How does Ibanez do it?
Plays well, sounds good, the B string is reasonably tight, not expensive.
Limited string choices: I would stick with the Ibanez strings that are sold for this bass. I may try some of the DR short-scale 5string sets available, but I doubt they will be better than the Ibanez strings (which are also very reasonably priced).
Some work to make it a solid player, such as intonation and a half turn on the truss rod. It has some very mildly sharp frets, but nothing that affects playability. Most basses need a little attention when new.
Super fun little bass for almost no money. How can you beat it?
