Not bad but could be better
Good price and quality compared to similar items. However, there's not much to it. The milk disappears instantly when the bottle is inverted, so there is no illusion of "feeding" as with a real bottle, and the nipple is not realistic in shape or color. I think it's fine for a child who will not be concerned with realism, but if you are looking for something more lifelike, this will not be what you are looking for.

Good deal for what it is
This is a good deal for what it is. It's not jewelry quality. But if it fulfills a use for small inexpensive quartz crystals, it's perfect.

Beautiful Baby Boy Doll
Beautiful little baby boy.
The facial features, expression, very realistic eyes, and anatomy are all of the highest quality sculpting and detail.
I ended up purchasing four of the 14" La Newborn boy dolls, and I'm very pleased with the purchase. However there are some things to take into consideration.
These are small babies. According to several sources, a standard length real baby boy would be several inches longer at birth, so these are the size of preemies, and will have less options for clothing and accessories designed for real babies. This means you may have to take up sewing knitting, and prop construction to outfit your baby doll properly. Berenguer makes a 17" series that is closer to real life size, but they are more expensive too. In my opinion, at that price point, if you are wanting a very realistic doll, it may be wiser to pay a bit more for one of the dolls classified as "Newborns". The more expensive solid silicon Newborns can go for thousands of dollars, but there are vinyl versions which can be found for less than or just over a hundred dollars. Some of those have full bodies, some have limbs attached to a cloth body which you can enhance with an additional body plate, so be sure and research thoroughly before investing in one of those.
These Berenguer dolls are vinyl, and though the surface texture is very silky, they definitely have the firm feel of a vinyl doll. Just out of the box there is a faint vinyl odor but I expect that will dissipate in a short time. Where the limbs join the body, they are somewhat tight and have the sensation of a mild sticking when turning them, along with a soft squeak. I also expect this will dissipate in time. The arms and legs will rotate all the way around. However, when rotating the arms up, the hands end up close to the mouth, and to move past the head they have to be bent outward enough that the seam where they join at the shoulder spreads. This isn't really a problem and doesn't give the impression of damaging the doll. It's just a bit unnatural. The legs have a similar issue being angled so that the ankles cross when in a forward and downward position, so they are a bit awkward when rotating past one another. Due to the posture of the baby, it's not really possible to position him naturally laying face down or crawling. Even though he will sit, he appears to slump with his head facing down, which is actually natural for a newborn, just don't expect him to compare with a doll made for sitting upright. He is really at his best facing upward, cradled in swaddling, in bed or bassinet, or your arms.
This particular model "First Yawn" does not come with the full layette set, blanket/clothing ensemble, as some of the others in the series do. He comes with a diaper pant, wristband, bottle and birth certificate. So as I pointed out previously, you may find clothing options a challenge, so figure that in with your budget.
The only really careless flaw I've noticed is that there is some light overspray, from the very faintly painted hair area, onto the backs of the ears. This would probably go unnoticed unless scrutinizing closely for flaws, but for the price of the doll it's an oversight which should have been avoided.
All in all, I think it's a great value for a great doll, which will serve well as either a high quality play doll or as an introduction for collectors to hyper-realistic collectible dolls. Either way, these are beautiful dolls which you are bound to fall in love with.
