Superb image quality. Poor build quality.
This lens gives pictures a wonderful 'etched' quality. Sharpness and contrast are excellent, resulting in a saturated (but totally natural) look. On a DX camera it behaves similarly to a 75mm, so it's perfect as a (shortish) portrait lens. The fast 1.8 aperture has lost some of it's role as a low light shooter because of VR lenses, but the advantages of shallow DOF and the ability to freeze action at high shutter speeds remain.
Build quality is not good: mounting the lens requires a lot more force than other lenses- it's very stiff. I'd recommend wiping down both mounting surfaces after use. Also, I wouldn't recommend using the aperture ring (on older cameras) as the mechanical quality is horrible.
I feel a little churlish complaining: I'm sure Nikon could have built a lens with far better mechanical quality for 50% higher price - but I probably wouldn't have bought it. If you're planning to spend £100 on Nikon gear, you should buy this lens. The IQ is fabulous.

Not multicoated as far as I can tell, but well made.
As far as I can tell this filter is not coated but is seems to work well. Some other Marumi filters are multicoated.

A good bag for swimmers
Roomy bag. Good quality with several useful compartments. The zips tend to get stuck when going round corners; they're not the worst but not the best either. A good bag for swimmers.
