The guitar, itself, was very reasonable priced and in excellent condition. Bill was scrupulously far in his description and, if anything, over-played some minor cosmetic blemishes that I frankly struggle to see. Martin MFX740 FX Phosphor Bronze Acoustic strings 12-54

Takes time for them to settle in...

When I first put these strings on I hated them, they sounded tinny to me and I would have replaced them if I had another set. But, after a couple of weeks they have settled down and actually sound pretty good, so I'm glad I persevered. Strings are so subjective that the only way to know for sure is to test them yourself. I don't claim to understand why some strings are good from the start and others take time, but it does seem to be the case. Not sure how this would work if you were a performer, as you'd want them to be perfect from the start.
