Nice Electronics Learning Project
I wanted to build a radio with my kids (6 & 8 yrs old) as an electronics learning project. This kit gives exposure to various basic electronics components such as resistors, transistors, diodes, a coil, capacitors and a few more integrated circuit components. It took me about 2 hours to solder up. I am by no means a master solderer. Far from it. More like a beginner. I had a little frustration with getting the solder to stick to the foil traces on the board. A few spots I held the iron on the board too long and burned the board. That was probably my fault.
After I finished everything going step by step from the supplied instructions, I turned the radio on after supplying a fresh 9V battery and IT WORKED! No problems really. I was happy with the kit. The quality of the radio is actually pretty good. Better than I expected for a DIY kit. I think the kids had fun and I was happy with the quality for the price.
