Great alternative to the OEM rack
1 of 1 found this helpful Since I really only need a rack occasionally, I wasn't going to miss the 30lb difference in load capacity between the OEM rack and this one. So I decided to save a pile of money and get this one. The included directions are a photocopy of the OEM directions with the extra step of assembling the side rails stuck in there.
Side rails came together easily enough, removing the roof molding was accomplished with a plastic knife, and cutting it with an orbital reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade. Another reviewer suggested only using 5 out of the 6 screws if the studs and holes didn't line up perfectly. Instead, I whipped out the Dremel tool with a sanding drum and enlarged the center pair of holes on the side rails in the inboard direction just slightly so all 6 bolts would fit on each side.
The whole operation took perhaps 2-2.5 hours start-to-finish, including entertaining a three-year-old.
