No better option
If you use SPD cleats with a road bike, and care about weight, aerodynamics, and appearance, there is no better choice on the market. I’ve tried many, many SPD options and nothing comes close. I will agree that the pedal isn’t the easiest to clip in to. However, if you understand how any clipless pedal works, these are no different. Shimano could easily “fix” the issue but that would be at the expense of weight. If you’re thinking, “that’s dumb, I would rather the pedal be heavier and easier to get in”, these aren’t the pedals for you. There are a ton of heavier options out there for you. Like everything else in life there are compromises. If your number one and two requirements are SPD and light weight, this is your pedal. If those aren’t your top priorities, it won’t be a 5 star for you.
