The Fantastic Live Delusion, 5060446070017, The Tubes

    The MTV Soundtrack!!!
I had this MTV concert on VHS tape... Great show! Over the years the tape gave out which in the end didn't matter, no more VHS players anyway. Then to finally get the show on a CD? Awesome! Great set list with the band at their prime at a Bay Area Hometown concert. Rick Anderson's bass tone is punchy and his loud in-the-mix bass lines drive the band. Better still? Disc 2 is a Completion Backward Principle show from 1981. What a great package to document these classic albums and tours. I am a fan of 1985's Love Bomb too, so even though that's the one that did the band in, I would still love to hear a live show from that era. Prairie Prince and Rick Anderson are an awesome rhythm section - they can pull off hard rock, funk, all the styles The Tubes covered and nail the feel and tone. The Tubes were such a unique cutting edge band... They paved the way for so many other live acts who failed to give them credit. This band was banned from the UK due to their stage shows in the 70's! And what punk and metal bands followed them that were not?!!? None.
