An American classic
Despite Tate's admittedly ante-bellum attitudes, his critical writing about literature remains one of the chief treasures (and pleasures) of Twentieth Century American literary criticism. This rich selection -- several complete books are contained herein -- offers countless hours of thoughtful meditation on the art of poetry and literature in general.
