Great price but not a great overall value for the "quality"
0 of 1 found this helpful I'm a self proclaimed tanning lotion snob, but that's a good thing for anyone interested in a lotion I review because I'm honest and very detailed about what I like as well as what I don't like. Bad for me (because I tend to spend obscene amounts of money on lotions that are truly worth it) but good for you (because you benefit from my habits!).
For starters, I am Native American and German; I tan relatively easily and I hold a tan very well. The Native American heritage causes me to have red undertones vs a golden brown than many other nationalities get when tanned. I've noticed a lot of people don't take into consideration someone's nationality when leaving a review let alone when considering a review of a product for themselves, so this was important for me to include. While this lotion may or may not have been ideal for me, it doesn't mean it will work the same way for someone with different skin characteristics.
Now, to the lotion: overall, I wasn't impressed. This was my first time using this particular lotion, though I have used the Sweet & Sexy line previously and loved it - this lotion just was not (for me) what I read rave reviews about. As far as a bronzer goes, I barely notice ANY color from this lotion. Now, perhaps the bronzers are not as heavy as I am used to, but if you like bronzers, you probably like a heavy bronzer (that IS the point of a bronzer so you get immediate color) and this is NOT the lotion for you. I honestly haven't gotten any immediate color from these bronzers and for that reason, I will not purchase this lotion again. I do like the scrub that came with it and I would definitely buy the scrub again, but not the tanning lotion; this is definitely one of the worst bronzers (by worst, I mean absolutely no result) I have used. I get a much better result from an accelerator - which has absolutely no bronzers - than I did with this Sweet & Sexy lotion (in case you're wondering which accelerator I am referring to, it's Designer Skin Pretty & Reckless, which I only paid $30 for a 32oz bottle and I like so much better than some accelerators I have paid $150.00 for a 9oz bottle).
I honestly wouldn't even recommend this lotion if you like a light bronzer because there was no instant color with this lotion, so there are many, many light bronzers I would recommend above this one or I would go with the accelerator I mentioned above (which got me so much darker than this lotion has). If you're like me and you want a heavy bronzer that gives you instant color, don't waste your money on this one. I'm still looking for an inexpensive bronzer that I really like and so far, haven't found one so I'll stick with my MR International I line bronzers (MR International I Black 2 is the best bronzer I have found thus far!!! I also love their 2015 line, which included the I Envy and I Black - which were also great, but the new I Black 2 is just phenomenal!!!). The only two downfalls to the MR International lotions are (1) you can't buy them just anywhere, which includes ebay, as they are limited to certain salons, and (2) they are not cheap (we're talking $120.00+ per bottle, but they are SOOOO worth it!).
