SANSUI CA-2000, CA2000, Preamplifier! 1977-79! Serviced Pre w/ 2 phono inputs!

Classic that can shine with modern update.

I first need to mention that I had this TOTALLY restored. The unit uses silver contact switches that get oxidized over time if not maintained and the caps obviously age and need replacement. This is a classic with single ended circuits, regulated voltages and premium parts including the elusive Alps Black Beauty pot. The biggest surprise is the quality of the EQ circuit and the line level circuit. In comparison to my TVC it lost a touch of air but wins out in naturalness and low frequency guts. The phono stage is good but not near of the caliber of the line stage and EQ unit. With a revamp of the aged components and cleaning of the switches it is one of those components that you can listen to forever and not feel wanting for more. This unit would cost 10K to make today.

ok, needs work to be good.

Poor quality spindle and centering cups. Had to have a custom spindle machined. Needs a lot of effort to get setup and working well. Maybe ok for low precision coils but the poor spindle make it a serious challenge. Most people will be frustrated with it. Heavy castings that will last put very poorly finished. Got here fast and was well packaged though. A manual with tips on operation would be nice as well.
