Viable Alternative
1 of 1 found this helpful This is a viable alternative to the basic plastic gear system without going to the expense of the more sophisticated steel geared motors. The alloy gears are well set up with adequate bearings and seem quite as robust as many gear systems fitted to say O Gauge electric locomotives. The price complete and nicely packaged is quite keen and fitting straight forward. Making as good a gearbox by hand would be very complex.even supposing one had a lathe ,gear cutters and depth tools. This is ever the case with well devised mass production techniques, that is the end product is far cheaper and far more precise than and works as intended on installation.

An Impressive Early Ho Coach.
The Coaches which come with Bachmann's "Prussian" set are excellent miniatures of the original designs of the 1830s and as such are unusual. Few model companies have marketed locomotives and rolling stock of this period in the early history of steam. Triang and later Hornby marketed "Rocket" and three associated coaches in OO Gauge. These are now hard to find in good condition and have become somewhat expensive. Bachmann were more adventurous and marketed three separate types of early locomotive and rolling stock all of which are very pleasing historic sets. Hornby did market "Rocket" in live steam gauge. These were very handsome models which make magnificent display items. There have been models in OO of later locomotives of the 19th Century. The "Singles" capture the character of the age, especially the Rapido model but that model is expensive to buy. The Bachmann trio are still reasonably priced. They look well in their original livery but could be adapted . The Norris was of course, designed in the U.K. For those enthusiastic about early railways the individual models or the Bachmann Sets are a very good choice. They are all attractively boxed and readily stored when not in use.

Useful, User Friendly Choice
I would say that the pack contains a useful selection of the more widely utilised cells and is reasonably priced. The packaging of each separate type of battery makes the cells quite secure but also easy to separate for use if one is careful to extract each one. Insertion of the cells should be simple but care and a lense is required for use of the smaller cells.. I recommend this versatile and neatly packaged selection.
