Sinatra Sets The Standard
A meticulously prepared set of songs that could just as easily
be titled "The Symphonic Sinatra" when considering the talents
and forces in action here. One of the chosen songs would not
have been my own choice from the singer's CV but rarity
value allows it to take its place. The disc ranks alongside
"Sinatra And Strings" for the overall quality of its
performances and sound reproduction. A must for inclusion
in any collection of quality popular music, especially at a
price that is less than a couple of pints of beer AND includes P&P.
Timeless enjoyment from a master of his art and one of the best music conductors/arrangers in the business.

"You'll Never Walk Alone"
An essential addition to anyone interested in either the lives
and work of the subjects or their marvellous contribution to
popular music and the theatre.
Comprehensively illustrated and including references to those
whose lives and careers interacted with them, it is never less
than readable and informative.
A bargain in used books!

Setting the standard
The original analogue recording was a landmark, later transferred successfully to CD
- listed by EMI as one of their "Great Recordings of the Century". It certainly
deserves all the accolades, even though a number of fine digital recordings by other
famous conductors and ensembles have followed up to the present day....and can
still be bought with confidence to give a modern listener an idea of what could be
achieved forty years ago in the recording studio.
This particular bargain label issue is very successful - the recording pushing this vividly
scored romantic symphony to the foreground for the full enjoyment of the listener, with
the strings particularly effective - as they should be in a work of this sort.
A superb symphony given a superb interpretation, performance and recording.
