Great show, mediocre video quality.
This was a great show, but when Echo Bridge re-released this they crammed it all (over 18 hours) on TWO discs! The quality is less than great, but still somewhat better than expected, considering. The previous versions of this release was on FOUR discs, offering better quality. Regardless, it's still a great collection to own, especially if you love westerns and don't mind not having amazing picture quality. The show itself is very interesting and really well done. Each episode is about a historical person of the west, or group of people. It's mostly based on newspaper accounts of events, with some exaggeration and extra characters, but pretty accurate. As with most Echo Bridge releases there are no special features.

Excellent show and excellent set with a couple small issues.
This was an amazing show and unbelievably underrated/ignored. The first season (aka The Series) was really good and very similar to Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman in that is was very clean and family friendly with very minimal violence. The second season (aka The Outlaw Years) was my favorite of the two and was very gritty, moody, and had much more violence. The bad thing about this set is the second season has several episodes out of their airing order, so in one episode someone gets killed, the next episode they're alive and well. It's only a few that are affected and I believe only one or two that the order actually makes a difference as far as plot goes. The characters, I find, are very likable and realistic. I enjoy the acting, scenery, plot, etc. A great mix of humor, drama, and action in both seasons. If you dig westerns with interesting stories this is a great one to get as you probably won't find this series popping up on any streaming sites. A similar series to this one (or at least The Outlaw Years) is The Magnificent Seven.
