Bigger but better than expected
I have had my new Casio G-Shock G-Steel GST-S100G-1A watch for about a week and really like it. Although bigger than I anticipated, it meets and exceeds all of my expectations. I was looking for a replacement of a 7 year old Casio G-Shock G-1500B-5AD watch that got damaged by a spinning winch handle under a 200 lb. load. Being a tough G-Steel watch, the old watch saved my wrist from serious injury. It still keeps excellent time, but has lost its water resistance and the top steel frame came off a few days ago. I was able to put it back on, but it will never be the same. What an endorsement for these Casio watches however.
Both watches actually look somewhat alike (old one with damaged bezel on left in picture), and have similar functions. The new Casio however, is a little easier to use and very easy to read at a glance. New functions that I really like are the battery level indicator and the ability to move the hands out of the way. The light is also much better in the new model.
I will be happy with this new Casio for a long time provided I stay away from runaway winch handles!
