Not what I hoped for
I think they're good for trivets. They're not very good for potholders. I bought them because I got tired of cloth ones becoming raggedy. But cloth ones are flexible. They allow you to get a good grip on hot pots and pans. These silicone ones bend but they don't conform well to the round shape of utensils. I'm a little nervous when using them, even afraid of dropping a hot pot. I think others have come to the same conclusion, which is why silicone ones stopped being sold in stores. I never bought any at the time many stores were carrying them. Once I decided to give them a try, I could only find them online. Beware a product you could once buy "live" and now you can't.

Works, but seems loose.
It works, but the part that turns is loose. I'd like to see a bit more resistance, so that when you turn it to clean or dirty, it feels tighter. To be fair, it has stayed put without flopping around to the other side, but it always feels like it could flop around.

A truly different perspective
I checked this out of the library and devoured it. I've had cats all my life and never read anything like this. It gives a perspective to cats and our relationships with them (historically and presently), that is totally different from anything I had even considered before. (And, yes, by "presently", I don't mean literally, since I think it was published in the 1980s. That's still close enough to "now" that the attitudes are still valid.) Bottom line - I was so taken with this book that the one I'm now ordering is FOR MY LONG-TERM VET! Who knows, maybe she's already read it. If so, she can pass it on to whoever she pleases. If she hasn't read it, then I'm confident she will find it as beguiling as I did, and it will deepen her already cat-whisperer abilities. (And I will mention to her, the author also has a volume on the body language and emotions of dogs.)
