You need adjustable power for the track, different cars require different power and also experience levels of the drivers. quite precise with these. The afx power packs have beginner, intermediate and pro settings.

Digital racing requirement
The Carrera app is not great that you can download free, but combine this with smart race for $15 and you have all the stats you can imagine and voice prompts for laps, needing to pit etc. Much better and way less expensive than all the driver stations and lap tower I bought already. While the driver stations do work with the app, you don't need them with this combination

Much better than expected
I am a gigging musician. I play a lot of different instruments. My octave mandolin has been causing me grief for some time. I had an LR Baggs Radius pickup with an LR Baggs gig pro pre amp. feedback issues drove me nuts and I had to roll the bass almost totally off. I decided to try this unit out to make an easier way to change instruments and my guitar, ukulele, mandolin all had built in pre amps (all but mandolin have built in tuners as well). This setup sounds way better than I expected it would. The tuner is easy to read and precise, and the fx are honestly quite decent and easy to dial in. I was plugged into a 100 watt keyboard amp with no issues. I am going to see how loud I can get tomorrow but I was quite loud already with no feedback for a change. It was a tight fit in the octave mandolin and required some surgery inside to make it fit but in a guitar it would be an easy install. My only complaint is there is no template for cutting out so I put painter's tape on the face of the pre amp cover and put that on the instrument to drill and cut. same with the battery compartment/output jack
