Great for lightweight bikes, not for heavy ones.
To put it simply. Installation was a chore. The insert was smaller in circumference than the tire and rim itself. SO the insert needed to be stretched considerably for me to be able to mount the tire. The insert does do its job, and stopped a staple from getting to the tube. But after taking the insert out after a week. Following installation instructions, and care usage. The insert was half its thickness. Even after a few days of relaxing outside of the tire.
The biggest problem I had, and the main reason why I am rating 3 stars. Rolling resistance. I ride an Aventon L2 Commuter. With the accessories I added on, bike rack, some bags for storage, and similar safety stuff. The bike is about 75lbs, @62lbs stock. It is already hard enough to pedal on its own. Add these inserts and pedaling becomes an absolute shore. And that is with a road tire designed to promote a major decrease in rolling resistance. There is soo much drag, a typical route on one of my daily rides sees my battery consumption being increased by almost 15% Where I normally go for a 15 mile ride, I normally use anywhere from 8-10% of my battery, going from 100 to 92-89% of my battery charge left. Doing this same route with the inserts has increased my battery usage to to increase. Leaving my battery reserve at 68-70% after my ride. Which is not great.
I would really recommend these inserts for lighter weight mountain bikes, bmx bikes, commuter bikes. If you have a place to ride that is prone to flattening tires. Great, these could work, but IF you have a heavy long distance rider like a long range ebike. These will hurt your mileage, as well as making the bike much harder to pedal. They do a very good job at reducing flats in the two months that I have used them.

Latrax Legacy
I knew LaTrax was around in the early years, before me. LOL. I know Traxxas is a defacto standard for RC from entry level to pro, but this was an unacceptable experience. Teton arrived well packaged, and with a decent price, the seller even included another battery. AWESOME! Was ready to romp the little guy around. Put the battery in, turned it all on, and set it down on the rug to give it a little test before bringing it out side. I drove forward slowly testing the features and agility. Then I heard it after a moment of testing. Clicking. Then I completely lost the steering. Not even 5 minutes, and on a carpet no less. Steering servo stripped out completely. Called traxxas, they want me to pay shipping to return it, not a big deal. They wanted me to pay full price for a new servo and it would be shipped out to me after I got off the phone. Once they received the broken one, they would evaluate it to see if it was a manufacturers defect or user negligence. If they deemed it manufactors defect, I would be reimburshed minus the amount to this new servo back to me. IF they deemed it user negligence, then I am out 35.99 and they got their servo back to rebuild and sell again. Why am I paying three times for shipping on a defective product? Once to get Teton, twice to ship the bad servo out and third time to receive the new servo. Needless to say I did not go through the replacement process as It would take 5-7 business days to get the new servo. I looked up reviews on the Teton, and almost every reviewer said the steering servo will break and to replace it with a stronger servo right away, even if your servo works fine. Cost of traxxas servo, 35.99 plus shipping, hobby store for same traxxas servo, 50 bux. Cost of aftermarket metallic gear waterproof servo, 30 bux, or a non waterproof one was 12. What is wrong here, this is an entry level truck with a 50 dollar servo that is known to be too weak and for stripping out. Traxxas should ship everyone who bought one of these things a new servo, or reimburse those who had to purchase a new servo. I went to the hobby shop, the owner bought my Teton from me for the full price I paid, he runs Teton crawl races, and gave me an awesome deal on a used Axial. The teton might have been faster, but the Axial was leagues on the Teton in build quality and customization. I am not saying to stay away from the Teton. I drove a hopped up brushless Teton with all carbon fiber and aluminum chassis and it was a blast. But the Teton was almost all aftermarket by that point. It was a fast and nimble, really impressive once given the proper love. Something Traxxas and LaTrax failed to do. After driving the hopped up Teton, the owners personal one. I completely understand why he gave up his personal Axial Jeep for another of these little trucks. They are a blast to drive, quick, even for stock, nimble, all with a decent runtime. If you buy one, make sure you buy a steering servo too, and not the traxxas 2065 servo either. Like one of these...
Not waterproof, hitec hs65mg. Servo mount screw hole must be opened slightly, servo is wider.
Not Waterproof, corona ds 929. Cheap, great alternative. Need to flatten mount slightly to fit servo. Servo needs to be reversed via the Teton instructions.
Not sure if waterproof. Hobby shop said these two were great. I dont know.
Savox sh0257mg
savox sh0261mg, both should be direct mount. Using the servo horn that came with the servos, clip off one flat blade using wire nips making sure to not damage the spline hub. Center and then mount. Servos must have the steering channel reversed as instructed by the Teton manual/
The servos listed are not waterproof, the waterproof ones are all quite a bit more expensive, the manufactors listed make a waterproof servo that fits as well. All Servos listed are higher torque and faster than the traxxas 2065 servo. Meaning much quicker steering response. The Teton is a lot more fun with the quicker servos. All servos listed all have metal gearing and are much more durable than the original 2065 servo. They are not invincible tho, do be wary to make sure you use them properly and take the extra steeps to not short them out if they are not waterproof units.
