Magical, heartwarming and beautiful

A heartwarming story about ugliness and real beauty. This story takes place during the depression so poverty and greed are two characters. To the main character these are obstacles to face and overcome with determination and patience. Her passion is music, specifically singing - all that stands in her way is the difficulties of the time. All of this changes when a mysterious man moves into an old mansion... This story has stuck with me since I first saw it decades ago. I watch it every so often to remind myself of the beauty that comes from hard work and keeping ones self respect a priority.
