Aprilaire 1830 Whole House Dehumidifier
We had a musky smell in the basement of our Virginia home. We've put a water remediation system in and installed the de-humidifier that definitely made a difference. We have it set to 40%, so it runs pretty consistently, which we may adjust to reduce the electric draw and sound. The sound is not obnoxious, but it is a constant low hum. In regards to our electric bill, it's hard to tell how the dehumidifier factors in, since the cold weather came at the same time as the install, so difficult to differentiate between the electric HVAC and the de-humidifier.
