The plug end that slides into the NOOK slides back into its shell. You have to apply pressure on both sides of the shell and with luck it might go in

Battery--I didn't know that it's not replaceable. Should have investigated.
I'm satisfied with the NOOK. It is easy to get started especially with the User Manual that can be down loaded.
To answer the last question. I would tell a friend about it but I would caution them that it may become an expensive paper weight in the future.

Not night vision
I tried these glasses at night and found no difference then wearing my regular glasses. The on coming vehicle headlights were still glaring with no reduction of intensity.
