Warning about item description
The catalytic converter itself is fine, though it took quite a bit of maneuvering to get it installed. What needs to be said is that this particular converter will not pass smog inspection in California. When one of the cats on my Expedition was stolen, I purchased this converter while still living in Arizona with a separate residence in California. With that in mind, I noted in the Item Description from the seller that it read:
"Cannot ship to or be used in vehicles ORIGINALLY PURCHASED in CA, CO, NY or ME".
Further down in the description:
"It is very important to note, if your vehicle was originally purchased in CA, CO, ME, or NY, regardless of where your vehicle is registered, this item will not be compatible with your car."
Both of those warnings were fine - my Expedition was originally purchased in Arizona.
Now that I have moved the Expedition to California, I find that despite the fact that my Expedition was purchased in Arizona, the catalytic converter is not CARB compliant and it doesn't matter where the vehicle was purchased. I now have to spend close to $1,000 to purchase a CARB compliant converter and just throw away my nearly new (less than a year old) $250 converter away.
If there is any chance that your vehicle will end up in California, DO NOT buy this catalytic converter.
