For those of you with older prairies this may help
I purchased for a whole whopping $30 one of his 2006 brute Force information gauges
If you own a 2002-2003 prairie you'll notice the difference in the gauges is you have to pigtail wiring connectors were these only have one.
For $30 I decided to take the Gamble getting a little creative my 2002 prairie gauges were working just extremely sun-faded and the plastic sun faded as well To where could barely read the screen. Disassembled the used $30 cluster from an 06 brute Force
And was able to with just a Phillips head screwdriver in a very small pair of needle-nose once you're in the gauges where the circuit board is the LCD screen is not soldered that's where the needle nose pliers come in there's just four small bent tabs that you have to straighten a quarter-turn and it'll release the entire LCD assembly into your hand. Moved LCD assembly over to my old 2002 Kawasaki prairie 650 and did the same thing disassembled bent the four tabs on my circuit board and put in the LCD out of the 06 brute Force in and as a bonus the newer unscratched plastic cover off The brute Force is a match for the back half of the older prairie info cluster. Project took me a whole 15 minutes to do now my older 2002 prairie gauges look brand new and by not changing the circuit board my prairie still reflects the proper hours and miles by keeping my OEM circuit board.
The only difference is in the new outer plastic shell the older prairie 650 s the yellow light was a low fuel light which mine still is but the 06 brute Force cover the yellow light is for the belt warning so to fix that I just took a cotton ball with a little bit of lacquer thinner on it on the outer cover and rubbed off the white paint that says belt
If your prairie 650 owner you know when that yellow light comes on it's the low fuel light.
Hope this helps some of you
It's weird that the newer brute forced gauges you can pick up used for thirty bucks
But the older prairies are almost the exact same thing and they want 200 used up to 700 new for gauges that are 95% identical.
Top left photo is after the conversion is done
But before I wiped off we're says belt
You can see in the lower photo where my old gauges were starting to separate from being sun-faded.
