EX Value and IS is great! If using in difficult light, buy Zeiss or Swaro.
2 of 2 found this helpful This is an amazing optical system. The IS System is stellar and for normal lighting, I highly recommend these binoculars.
However, control of light in difficult circumstances is not up to the standard of the world-class (European) optics -- Zeiss and Swarovski, in particular. I compared these against a pair of Zeiss NightOwl 10x56 P*T* binoculars and the optical coatings of the Canons didn't stand up well against this 15+ year-old technology in difficult lighting conditions. When viewing backlit objects -- at dawn & dusk sky above a treeline -- the Canons washed out completely. The Ziess glass lost some contrast, but I was still able to discern detail -- e.g. tree limbs and game. When viewing objects at rear quartering sun angles, I could see three distinct reflections of my retina in the eyepiece of the Canons. This did not occur with the Ziess optics. When casting reflections off of the front glass onto a backstop, a pair of B&L binos was as distinct and almost as bright as a piece of flat glass (a cheap camera filter); reflection off of the Canons were less bright and distinct, but still plainly visible; the Ziess glass reflected only a ghost of the outline of the front optic. These indicate to me that the optical coatings on the Canon Binoculars is inferior to that on the Zeiss Binos. Having performed similar tests between Zeiss and newer pair of Swarovski 10x42 binoculars and finding them comparable, I would place the optical coatings quality of the Canons well behind them. BUT. If you need Image Stabilization, the Canons are the best there is -- at a reasonable price point.

Aftermarket Carburetor
Item fit -- all the holes lined up -- and the engine runs fine. But it's not clear to me that the anti-backfire valve is working properly. In the previous configuration, when I turned the ignition key off, the valve would close, shut off fuel flow inside the carb and kill the engine. Now, the key position makes no difference.I feel the valve click when the key is turned on and off, but it appears that it doesn't shut off fuel to the main jet/nozzle when it's not energized (as did the system on the old carburetor). Not a big deal in that now I just shut off the fuel petcock and run the carb out of fuel to kill the engine.
