Given a chance!
The video, tells of a time, when women were regulated to jobs like secretary, Nurse, telephone operators, and showed that they were capable of operating many different aircraft that were built and need to be Air Bases around the country. I was surprised to see how many were qualified!
It was also revealing, that our country did not recognize them and provide the benefits they deserved, until President Jimmy Carter, made it happen. Much like the Muskegon Airmen.
It is a story, that needs to be re-told every so often, like the efforts women made to obtain the vote. Another video, worth watching.

Knuckle coupler for Bachmann Acela
The Bachmann 78035 HO E-Z Mate coupler is more convenient than the existing Draw-bar, but it leaves more of a gap between cars, and an even larger gap between locomotive and coach.
I am not sure the reason for the off-set near the knuckle, because the magnetic rod is high off the track and could not be used for un-coupling, not that I would want to use it for that purpose. The train consist is not usually switched.

A long way to faster rail transportation.
In the past, I got bits and pieces of information about the Metroliner. This book, puts it together, and explains the problems it faced in design and development. The problem the railroads faced, when the government encouraged people to drive or fly rather then take public transportation, and how this affected railroads like the Pennsylvania and other railroads in the North-East.
It also explained the technical problems the Metroliner faced with an aging infrastructure that caused slow downs. All in all, it was a good start!
