Apollo Turntable shelf
I’ve been using these shelves since 1994. I now have quite a collection of them. I fill mine with sand, and drill the mounting holes out to 7mm (which gives a little tolerance to enable levelling, then use expanding bolts to fit to solid wall. I use Allen bolts which fit easily into the frame. This produces a rigid mounting, I’ve even had heavy AV power amps on them.
I use bamboo or acrylic in preference to the glass shelves, that tend to ring, and use sorbethane deflection “Polipods” instead of spikes, to provide isolation.

WBT Silver Solder
I use this solder to make high quality analogue and digital cables. It requires a good quality temperature controlled soldering iron - I use the Blackjack solder station. I am consistently able to get very low resistance joins, I aim for my cables to be 0.1Ohm including the TWO solder joints. This solder flows really well. The photo shows me measuring the resistance of the centre core of a 1.75m interconnect for a turntable - this measures only 0.1Ohm

Unique speaker Distance compensation in DSD
I have owned one of these since 2007. It is a stunning SACD player, good but not great CD player.
Buy this for multichannel surround sound as it is the ONLY high end SACD player with the ability to set speaker distance delays (where your speakers are not equidistant from listening position) while keeping the sound as DSD. All the other high end players have no control over this eg Linn, Krell etc. DVD and Blu-Ray players convert to PCM to achieve this.
This means that well recorded surround is a lifelike stunning experience. The acoustic of the recorded classical concert for example is exceptionally well rendered.
By 2016 standards the sound is quite relaxed. Compared to an Oppo 105 for example it is less detailed, but warmer. This works really well for classical and jazz and delivers stunning renditions of Pink Floyd's surround material for example. The Oppo though has to convert DSD to 24/88khz PCM to carry out any speaker time delays.
The Sony's heavyweight chassis, is very well built.
I found that solid silver shielded llitz cables to give the best sound and mine sits on a Torlyte rack.
I paid over £2k for this - worth every penny if you have lots of surround SACD's.
