One of the best "classic" RPG's ever!
[Please note, this review is on the Atari ST version]
Exodus Ultima III is one of the best "early classic" RPG's ever. The manuals and extra's included with the boxed set help set the atmosphere for this awesome role playing game. You create a party and adventure deep into Sosaria, where trouble is brewing once again. All the usual RPG elements are there, and the background story will draw you in and hold you. Ultima was ground breaking in its day and influenced many later titles in the genre.
Floppy disk based, the game can be very unforgiving. If your character dies, the software goes straight to the floppy disk and completely erases your character. This is hardcore and old school, so play smart! Exodus, the main protagonist, is threatening Sosaria from his stronghold on the Island of Fire. Your final mission is to stop him but this is no ordinary "beat down" type game. You will have to delve into dungeons deep and assimilate the various clues you find and solve to puzzles to discover just how to beat him. You will have to discover the location of mysterious beings like the elusive "Time Lord", and more...
The Atari ST version is more colorful, with full mouse support and all the original soundtrack.
