2 of 2 found this helpful Had the Marantz SR8002, sold it, had the bug and bought a used ARCAM 350, marginally better for two channel stereo and marginally so save you hard earned coins so and save your the time and energy, but HT ehhhhh, suffers by comparison to Marantz SR 8002, so my quest to look for another 8002 but came across 8001 for half the cents and after hours and hours and hours of reading various blogs post stereophile articles I came across this mint condition gem with everything, holy Christmas nuts this is amazing, everything the 8002 had minus HD tuner, but something kept haunting me about my old Marantz SR 8002, is it better than the 8002, I'd have to AB to know for sure but you know how you get that feeling like, is better or is it my imaginary friend taking . But something from my previous dark nights listening intently to the 8002 came alive and said no the 8002 is not better I think 8001 reigns. So I pray don't make it rain with your money, save it, this 8001 by Marantz is worth every single dollar even though its not the latest greatest offering from Marantz, I don't really care for the new circle port plus I think some of them are thinner sounding go down and see for yourself, often I've found many times that spending more money does not warrant a better sound. Personally I don't need my receiver to flush brush or wash my hands, I like sound to be spot on and true to the old tubes if you catch my drift. Give it a go and I'm confident you'll be thinking the same thing, I'm a audiophile, there I said it, so trust my honest opinion here and go for it and save your $$$ over the 8002 and other foolish receivers, and if you get a chance to AB 8001 -8002 post it.

Bought these beautiful speakers and they are fantastic - very British sound and just what I wanted - one person called them bright perhaps he's using an onkyo - it all depends on what you feed them I've them running with a vintage darling Sony STR 6800 and they are far from bright and bass is punchy with a great accurate sound stage

B&W WHAT DID KRIX JUST DO??
1 of 1 found this helpful Well let me say, I'm amazed by the sound of these beautiful speakers, coming from Bowers & Wilkins and others from the recent countdown Revel M20 lovely sound but got bored and something for me was missing, the Revel M22 did not care for those not better for me, B&W CDM, they were very good but felt there was blanket on them so along came CDM 1nt although I liked but I could not get over the shrill tweeter up top no matter what chain I started I bought a pair of Krix because I thought they looked really good especially in the Jarrah wood and from what I read about these Australian speakers, but cannot believe what's pouring out of these speakers - LUSH!! They are easy to drive and are wonderful acoustic, vocal and can pump out some very good chest bass for their size, I paired them with a Monitor Audio silver RXW 12 subwoofer - amazing sub BTW, bliss paired with the Krix KDX, if you can get your hands on a set snatch them. The above speakers are a small sample of what I've owned if you're an audiofool like me you will love them. The sound is very natural, airy, piano is very rich and detailed, and strings sound lovely as they are plucked and played. There are very few speakers I keep and this has been in my collection for quite some time ,every time I hear them I'm grinning ear to ear. Give them a go, they are well worth the price of admission. I'm looking for the Lyrix Gold and will keep looking until I find a pair of those, Krix has made a fan.
