This is a very good model from Sony
With the typical belt replacement and some of them needing the take up reel idler adjusted for more tension this is one of Sony’s best non ghetto blaster era boombox. It’s very durable, I’ve owned two, my first I dropped it down an embankment into the mud, all that happened was the battery door came off and it snapped right back on like new. The sound is VERY good from the set at reasonable volumes, good treble and mega bass response. Wow and flutter could be better but for any typical boombox it’s ok and you won’t notice it. This has one of the best FM and AM radios I’ve seen, both bands pick up so much it’s hard to find a quiet spot, you will have a hard time finding one of its era to beat it and a much harder time finding a modern one. FM stations lock in good, recording is pretty decent for a boombox depending on tape quality, it cannot record on type II cassettes but has no problem playing them.
Depending on the condition, what the seller has done to restore it, or what you plan to do to get it back in top shape if not 100 percent operational out of the box you will not be disappointed with this little portable radio that’s much less space demanding than the fishers of the 80s etc.
