One of the best books we've read!
1 of 1 found this helpful My wife and I read it aloud to each other and thoroughly enjoyed Cather's ability to describe scenery, events, and in particular the feelings of the main character. Her language frequently caused us to look at each other and smile or in some other way admire it. We highly recommend this book.

Halloween creatures work together to move a "BIG" pumpkin.
The story follows a series of sequences like many folk tales. Someone new is added in succession to help solve a problem. In this case, the problem is trying to move a giant pumpkin. A similar folk story is about a giant turnip and finding a way to pull it out of the ground. The lesson for children is that of teamwork and the solution is often suggested by the smallest member of the group.
