First-Rate Reissue of the Top Quality Live Album -- The Way to Hear Kiss
1 of 1 found this helpful I was never a fan of Kiss during the years that they were burning up the charts and the airwaves. But they knew how to put on a live show, and not just visually -- this remastering of their original live album is first-rate from beginning to end, capturing their musical virtues exceptionally well and a better listening experience than most of their studio albums. They would never have been a match for the likes of, say, the Cream on one of their really good nights on stage, in terms of musical reach (or grasp), but as a showcase for Kiss's music you can't do much better than this.

A Superior Oral Hygiene Product for Anyone With Gum Issues
This was recommended by my dental hygienist, and it works better than Listerine, which I've been relying on for years. I've had to order it on-line, however, because none of my local drug stores carry it on their shelves (they have other Closys products, but not this one).

A Unique and Special Pete Seeger Concert Document
THE BITTER AND THE SWEET is most unusual, among the plethora of live recordings that Pete Seeger left behind, for having been recorded in a club (The Bitter End in New York) rather than an arena or concert hall, and in front of a small audience (The Bitter End holds a little more than 200 people). The performance is more intimate than a lot of Seeger's other concert documents, and he gets a rousing sing-along going on key parts of the repertory (especially "We Shall Overcome," which was the song of the moment in 1963-64). He brushes up against popular culture with a pair of his own songs that had lately been (or were about to be) hits for others ("Where Have All The Flowers Gone," done acapella, and "Turn! Turn! Turn!"). And if there's an unfortunate aspect to the release, it's that he spends more time playing the guitar (at which he was very good) as opposed to the banjo (at which he excelled). The sound is excellent and the singular nature of the venue and recording make this an essential Seeger document -- John Hammond, Sr. was the producer here, and one only wonders how much more of the show was recorded and may survive in the Sony Music archive, though it's unlikely at this late date that we would see any such vault raid for that material -- Sony thought little enough of this album that they've never reissued it on CD themselves, and licensed it to Mobile Fidelity (as a silver disc, not one of their gold Ultra-Disc issues) for re-release. It's a keeper, regardless.
