Donner Digital Reverb Guitar Effect Pedal Verb Square 7 Modes New in box
    Dec 11, 2019
    Decent for the money
3.5 Rating if I could. A few of good settings that are useful and fun to experiment with. I get the best Fender style reverb in Plate mode with E.Level 2.5, Decay 4.5, Tone 2. Beats my Vox AC15 amp's reverb by a mile. Noisy on a lot of the modes. Less is more in general. Pretty versatile, but it took a while to dial it in. Still impressive for short money.

Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Stratocaster, Scalloped Maple Fretboard

    Fender Yngwie Stratocaster - Excalibur
I've been playing guitar for 35 years and have owned about 20 Strats. I've always wanted an Yngwie Strat and the time was right to buy one. This particular guitar feels and plays like a quality instrument. The fit, finish, weight, and feel is amazing. I have a 2019 guitar which has the new contours and chamfering on the edges of the body, it took me a couple days to notice that if was cut differently. Straight neck grain is important to me so I waited until I found this example. After a little adjustment (neck and tremolo) this guitar sets up perfectly. The brass nut and stock string tree had some friction issues and was causing 'pinging' and unstable tuning, so I replaced the tree with an American Standard string tree, and added some graphite lubricant to the friction points. It stays in tune much much better now. The Seymour Duncan YJM Fury pickups sound great and are bone quiet. They are lower output pickups as mentioned by many and I had to raise them up a bit, but they are toneful pickups that sound great clean and overdriven. I don't play with a ton of heavy distortion so I can't comment on those types of sounds, but for surf-jazz-blues-rock they sound great. They don't chime really bright like a true single coil, but they have most of the single coil characteristics that I like. The three way switch is rugged feeling and you can still find the 2 and 4 position without much trouble. I'd wire in a 5-way if I was playing live, but if you are playing in your living room it will hold those positions okay. I haven't looked under the pickguard yet but I'm guessing the pickup cavity is fully shielded. There is absolutely no static noise or hum whatsoever when you release your hands from the strings or anything metal. If you are an experienced guitar player you won't have any issues transitioning to the scalloped fretboard. I have a pretty light touch to begin with and have lightened it even further when playing this guitar. I haven't noticed playing sharp because of the scalloping like I expected that I would. There isn't anything I can't play on this guitar that I can play on other Stratocasters. The only issue I've run into is, if I don't know a chord voicing and I'm searching a bit, my fingers can fall between the strings because of the scalloping. That's all on me though not knowing it cold. The scalloped board makes it easier to get a wide expressive vibrato especially on the higher frets. Scalloping feels much more natural higher up the neck than in the lower registers. The frets are super jumbos and are highly polished. I don't know what the stock strings it came with are but they feel good. They are definitely a 9-42 set but not the Fender Bullets as advertised. First string change I'll go to a Ernie Ball coated slinky titanium set which work really well with Stratocasters. What else, nice G&G tweed case, case candy, leopard strap hah, Dunlop recessed strap locks which are really cool...a Ferrari sticker would have been a nice touch. Mark of a great guitar is that you can't put it down. The Yngwie Stratocaster will inspire your playing and take you to new directions, and make you want to play for hours. That's what we have here, and just what I needed ;-} cheers
