An economical alternative to physical volumes and easily searchable.
3 of 3 found this helpful While I prefer hard copies, this is a good way to explore Erickson economically and it saves a bit of shelf space. The bookmarks feature on each PDF is accurate and useful like a side-bar table of contents section. The CD ROM auto-opens to a guide page using your internet browser, but files are on the disc. You can then save them locally on your hard disk and load them to multiple machines or put the CD ROM on the shelf for future reference.
All the info appears to be there for all 8 volumes of collected papers and each PDF is several hundred pages long. Amazing and fascinating content, to be sure! You can't understand this stuff if you're not willing to look within yourself and experience it objectively, so adding it to your repository of intellectual knowledge makes it nearly worthless to you. This may explain why hypnosis isn't well received or disbelieved these days. Even Erickson himself didn't understand it entirely, but he was masterful at using it authoritatively and in most cases I can see he left great marks on his patients' lives.

Open it up anywhere
Like the Bible, you can open this book anywhere and find incredible answers. It is written so elegantly simple that any 5-year old can take the info and run with it. If the Bible is your lifetime reference book, this book is your "quickstart guide". Read it once and you're off and running in life. Sure, you can go back and crack it open to marvel at the simplicity and utility of the message, but you won't need to when you understand the meditation exercise.
The US government passes out birth certificates and social security numbers, both of which are useless. If they would pass out this book instead, we would genuinely have a near-zero tax, 100% free utopia (or as close as we could get on this side of heaven).
The alternative to understanding this book is to simply enjoy suffering and dying. I'm not exaggerating, it really is that good. Buy, beg, or steal this book. You need it!
