Well known, good but expensive tape
1 of 1 found this helpful Sony UX-Pro are usually considered one of the best tapes ever made and was the TOTL of Sony tapes. They feature a kind if tape guide that is ceramic in this modes (in UX-S, this guid is plastic). I checked calibration on this tape @15kHz and if was OK so, I think, the tape is good regardless it's age. Appearance is perfect for my taste. But there are some visible aging problems: the minor tape curvature and small convexes on the surface, at least at the beginning of tape. These symptos are usual for old type II tapes. Fore example, curvature is very pronounced on TDK SA-X tapes that are also TOTL of TDK, as I remember. So no reasin to blame this particular Sony tape, it's common feature and may not affect the sound. BTW, visually the best tape from TOTLs of various brands is Denon HD-8 (and it performs well).
The price is quite high, it's obvious that it's just because good tapes are now rare on the market.

0 of 1 found this helpful Плеер рекомендуется к приобретению ТОЛЬКО НА ЗАПЧАСТИ. То, что вследствие почтенного возраста девайса, пассик превратился в черное желе, это можно считать нормальным. Но главная проблема этого плеера - в электроние. Там установлены кондеры Rubycon, по всей видимости, не японские (вероятно, тайваньские), которые не прожили 30 лет. Электролит из них вытек и повредил плату, которая в девайсе двусторонняя. Плата восстановлению не подлежит. Разъедены дорожки до текстолита, кроме того, резисторы выполнены планарными пленками, и в местах контакта с электролитом... Поэтому любителям винтажных аппаратом рекомендую обратить внимание на похожую модель Tosiba K-1S. Резисторы в ней "полноценные" и кондеры - других марок (SEC, Towa, Sanyo), протечек которых я не обнаружил. Я в своем K-3S планирую сделать самодельный усилитель воспроизведения, но, повторюсь, если Вы ищете что купить и случайно нашли это сообщение, то эта модель - только на детали для механики (кроме пассика).

Good choice for hobby
I've tested these leds. I didn't notice any visual defects, they look good. Colors at real room lighting are not so vivid as on picture but one should not expect that leds will look as AMOLED display. Some colors are not very bright but main (R, G, B) colors are bright enough (similar to Betlux that I used in my hobby project and that are of good quality).
