Ella and Louis at their best
A superb collection, and an immediate favorite. Excellent quality recording. Ella and Louis obviously had a great relationship, and a lot of fun working together on many of these duets. An essential addition to any jazz lover's collection. I really don't understand why this collection is not available as an ongoing release. Well worth the price!

A story I discovered through James Michener's recommendation
This is an excellent portrait of the South Pacific before WW II, air travel, and tourism changed it forever, written by a girl schooled by her writer father, and raised in a culture where storytelling was one of the main forms of entertainment. Miss Frisbie considers herself a modern day Ulysses and tells an absorbing story as she travels on her Odyssey from island to island with her father and younger siblings, having adventures which could have come out of a Robert Louis Stevenson novel.
Miss Frisbie writes charmingly, with a storyteller's directness, and with a surprising awareness of the world around her for one so young, describing it with interesting details and point of view.
I first learned of this book while reading James A Michener's 'Return to Paradise', in which he praised it highly. I was then pleased to discover it had been reprinted recently and was even available on Kindle. I enjoyed it so much, I've since bought multiple copies for family and friends. Its a perfect escape from our world of Covid-19 and current events.
