gardening probably best use
The tool is as described, but smaller than I expected. It is lightweight and probably better suited to gardening or to situations where weight and compact size are more important than having something super-sturdy. It could also be good in the car if you live where having a small shovel for snow / ice emergencies might be helpful.

The "seal" teaser is misleading
1 of 2 found this helpful I had hoped to have simple but reliable tools. The kit comes with tools that may last (flashlight. pen, and hard-to-use credit-card size "multi-tool"), but much of the rest seems designed with single-use applications in mind. If you need something to keep for one use in an emergency, this may be OK, but "survival kit" is a real stretch. Individual components would cost less if you buy carefully, and the plastic box is OK but also probably available elsewhere.

Very thin and off-white rather than the fairly solid, white plastic it looks like
Very thin. Folded into a rectangle smaller than the size of a sheet of paper, it's the thickness of about 30 sheets of copier paper. Although I can't be sure, I feel fairly certain that the picture is of this very thin, printed plastic on top of a white tablecloth carefully placed so that the plastic cover looks very substantial instead of extremely thin. I would not buy it again, but sending it back is more trouble than it's worth.
