Accurate, Folding for pocket, Fast, Good Design, and made in England.
This is a remarkably accurate as well as convenient thermometer. Folds away safely and auto switches on / off as you open / close. Simple.
I like the First Foods version of the Thermapen as it has a slightly rounded point instead of the normal sharp point. Still easy to put into meats etc but also can use it to take say skin temperature (not babies) WITHOUT any danger of stabbing.
Just out of interest I decided to test the calibration - full instructions in the online downloadable booklet. First the ice point using distilled water and ice cubes made of distilled water:: here it flickered between -0.1C and 0.0C. . Then body temperature against a clinical thermometer (for accuracy over limited range):: here spot on 36.7C on both thermometers. Finally the steam point of rolling boiled distilled water in glass kettle:: 99.8C to 99.9C. Well I was suitably impressed as they quote +- 0.4C which is pretty remarkable in itself and so this baby food version is just as accurate as the standard Thermapen. Not forgetting how quick the response is to get to a true reading ~ just a few seconds. In fact I tired it taking my own under tongue body temp. Fine unless you take the thermapen out when you can observe how rapidly it drops
Oh yes - also tried one of my other thermometers out in the same experiment. You can see it as its the black one in the third picture. It showed how less accurate that one was. -0.4C out at zero and -2.0C at 100C. So just as the company say you can calibrate your other household thermometers against a thermapen.!
Finally its from a real English company doing well on the south coast in Worthing. Plus their products are often at a special price on ebay which makes them v.good value as well.
(P.S. used to work as a lab tech many years ago so have an idea what I was doing).

Does more than the old neon testing screwdriver did
Has a little coin cell plus some electronics and an LED so as well as a check for live mains like a neon tester it can check continuity of fuses, give an indication of whether an AA type battery has some charge in it, plus non contact detection of mains electric current - like from a live wire behind a wall switch. Finally it has microwave leakage but I have not tried that.
Only improvement would be a better LED as the red light tends to shine down to the tip of the screwdriver rather than out sideways as my previous (lost that one) did making it not too easy to see in bright light. But it works and is so cheap you can keep a couple handy.

Still a great webcam in 2020 giving quality video
Although launched around 2010 it is still a great webcam with a quality Carl Zeiss glass lens. Video quality is not just about resolution - as with any camera if you don't have a good lens no amount of pixels is going to improve the image. I am not interested in the still resolution - I want it for video conference and video presentations. Very happy with it all the way to 960x720 HD video. Auto focus is acceptably fast and color rendering much better than my laptops built in camera. I am using it with Zoom and Skype and the controls in the Logitech driver do enable manual image adjustment if needed. You can also digitally zoom in and then pan & tilt and even face track with the logitech driver.
At the end of the day my restricted ASDL upload bandwidth would not allow any higher definition video than 960x720 so spending more on a later generation camera for my use would be wasted.
