Good budget Computer if you fix OS.
Good computer for the price.
Even while running on idle computer becomes hot. Does it mean windows spy listening (and watching) and sending everything over the internet?
After some research I decided to try Win10 LTSC. It works fantastic. Computer started to run cool and fast. Notebook stopped pretending to be hot iron and now it can be used as lapTop. No more disturbing and uninstallable CourtAna and “everything you never need”. I didn’t install bunch of confusing dell this and that. Drivers from dell website were not sufficient, had to use windows update. I should back up drivers.
Mandatory updates may bring a problem. They may reorganize everything, or even brick computer, when not compatible with one of currently installed drivers. In such case you have to reinstall OS. Live-CD Linux may help you to save your data to external drive. To avoid such trouble I turned updates off.
Battery came completely drained and lost around 40% of capacity.
Power button is located on keyboard. Not a good idea. I have another laptop and keep pressing it instead of “Delete”.
Unfortunately RAM is not expandable.
No (micro)SD slot, where SD card could be used as file storage.
2230 SSD of 0.5 and 1Tb much more expensive then 2280.
USB-C port is used by included charger. So, you need traditional power supply to utilize all 3 USB ports.
For everyday use screen is small. Setting letter size as 125% brings ugly look. So, I would like fanless laptop with at least 14” screen.
For marketing reason manufacture neglect customers and don’t specify “fanless” / noisy in description. I hope that voracious demonosaurus raptor processor will die soon and get replaced with energy efficient one.
It would be nice make video memory upgradeable as well.
While upgrading memory, I would put existing RAM stick into video memory slot instead of throwing it out.
I would like to see (micro)SD and one more SSD slot.
During setup I advise to skip connecting to internet to avoid trouble with Microsoft account. Once I didn’t have another computer while setting Win8 for someone, besides netzero closed my email due to inactivity. No way to go back or reenter email to get required code.
