I spent over 1K for an analogue receiver I bought 22 years ago and just replaced with this one. The corner behind by TV/Stereo system was a complete mess with all of the wires, interfaces and connectors I was using to hook everything up. The remote was the size of a shoebox, had 100 buttons, and constantly drained batteries. When I hooked up the Onkyo TX-SR383, I was able to fill the box it came in with cables and converters I no longer need. I was able to plug my TV, Amazon Fire Box and DVD player directly into the back of this receiver with HDMI cables. I can switch directly between these devices with it's remote. This doesn't have some of the features of my old receiver. I can't simulate a stadium or concert hall effect with it, but I don't really care about that. It's powerful enough to power my very large 3 foot tall Klipsch speakers. If the sound quality is any less than what I had before, the difference is negligible. It's simplicity and ease of use make up for it. It's nice to be able to clean behind my TV without going over 50 cables. I'm now down to 5. If you have a Sub and a surround system, you might want something with more wattage, but this is more than powerful enough for my needs. I feel that for the price, this was an absolute steal.
